About Nehemiah Gateway’s Free Tax Prep

The Delaware Tax & Financial Services Campaign services low-to-moderate income families & individuals in Delaware. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is made possible through the generosity of volunteers who take the time to train on weekends or after work to obtain an IRS certification as a volunteer tax preparer and understands Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, education credit and other deductions you may qualify for. Through collaboration, in addition to free tax preparation/education services, the campaign provides asset-building tools that include savings accounts, US savings bonds, and prepaid debit cards. These amazing volunteers have also assisted thousands of families and saved millions of dollars in tax preparation fees.

We have locations statewide and our tax sites are managed by experienced staff who will ensure your return is prepared accurately to yield the maximum refund allowable by the IRS. We will review your return with you and answer any questions and promptly e-file to ensure that you receive the best service.

As part of the American Rescue Plan, we have established a pilot program called No tax return left behind. We are open and ready to serve you, go make an appointment to get current or prior year returns prepared or just a second look. We look forward to serving you and your family.

Free federal and state tax returns

For taxpayers with household income $57,000 or less. We also file returns if you have no taxable income but did not receive stimulus payments

Get your refund as quickly as possible! Returns are typically electronically filed within 24-48 hours which means your refund could be received in as little as 10 days (with no reduction of the amount refunded for fees, loans, or interest charges). We can open a deposit or savings account, savings bond, or convenient cash card on the spot.

Save some now…spend later! Taxpayers can save a portion of their refund immediately by purchasing a savings bond or opening a savings account with a credit union while at the tax site. This way, 100% of the refund and credit is yours.
